Verdict

Suits crypto holders who want to spend against their portfolio without selling and are comfortable with liquidation risk. Skip it if you mainly want cashback on a free card, because the free tier’s $10 monthly cap limits it.

How we read the terms: Free Basic membership: no annual fee and 0.5% USDC cashback in Credit Mode (capped at $10 a month). The 2% maximum needs Platinum at $999 a year. FX is not scored because XPlace’s membership table, docs and card terms give different figures. No card issuance fee is published.

Pros

  • Credit Mode lets you spend by borrowing against BTC, ETH or SOL instead of selling
  • Self-custody: collateral sits in Kamino smart contracts XPlace can’t move
  • Cashback paid in USDC, from 0.5% on the free tier
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay, plus physical cards for Silver members

Cons

  • The 2% rate needs a $999-a-year Platinum membership
  • Cashback only in Credit Mode and capped at $10 a month on Basic
  • XPlace’s pages give conflicting FX fees and Silver spending limits
  • Borrowing exposes your collateral to liquidation

Overview

XPlace is run by Pontech Group L.L.C-FZ in Dubai. Its Visa card is issued by Third National through a programme managed by Signify Holdings (Rain). It has two modes: Cash Mode spends USDC you top up, and Credit Mode borrows USDC against your crypto at the moment you pay.

Membership sets your limits and cashback: Basic is free (0.5%), Silver $99 a year (1%), Gold $249 (1.5%) and Platinum $999 (2%). Cashback is paid in USDC on Credit Mode spending only, with monthly caps from $10 to $250.

Credit Mode borrows USDC against your BTC, ETH, SOL, JitoSOL or USDT collateral (held in Kamino Finance smart contracts) at the moment you pay, with no fixed repayment schedule; collateral can be liquidated if its value falls. Cash Mode spends a USDC balance you top up onto the card. Only Credit Mode earns USDC cashback.source

Is it worth it? Quick math

We can’t do the maths yet: the entry-tier cashback or one of the fees is not verified.

Cashback paid in a volatile token can be worth more or less when you sell it. FX and top-up fees are not included here.
