A strong pick for Trade Republic users who already run a monthly savings plan, especially if they can use the 2% crypto rate. Skip it if you don’t want to keep €50 a month in savings plans or live outside its 17 countries.

Overview

The card is a Visa debit card from Trade Republic Bank GmbH, a German bank supervised by BaFin. Crypto in the Trade Republic wallet is held in cold storage by BitGo Europe GmbH.

Saveback pays 1% of eligible card spending into a savings plan of your choice — stocks, ETFs or crypto. With Pay with Crypto, payments come from your crypto balance and earn 2% Crypto Saveback; Trade Republic notes that each such payment counts as a sale and may be taxable.

The card spends from the cash balance by default (1% Saveback). With Pay with Crypto, payments are funded from the Trade Republic crypto balance and earn 2% Crypto Saveback; each such payment counts as a sale of crypto and may have tax consequences.source
