Verdict

A practical way to spend crypto if you already bank with Revolut, with no extra card to manage. If you want cashback in crypto, look elsewhere: Revolut doesn’t publish a cashback rate for card spending.

How we read the terms: Standard plan in the EEA: no monthly fee, free first card (delivery fee extra). Currency exchange is 0% on weekdays up to €1,000 a month and 1% above that and at weekends; like other cards, we score the higher rate. Cashback is not scored because Revolut rewards card spending with RevPoints, not a percentage.

Pros

  • Any Revolut card can be switched to pay with crypto
  • No exchange fee from Revolut on crypto card payments
  • No monthly fee on the Standard plan
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay

Cons

  • No percentage cashback; rewards are RevPoints, not crypto
  • Weekday fee-free exchange is capped at €1,000 a month on Standard, with 1% at weekends
  • Crypto exchange fees start at 1.49% on Standard
  • Delivery fee for the physical card

Overview

In the EEA the account and card come from Revolut Bank UAB, and crypto services from Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd, a MiCA-licensed provider; in the UK crypto is provided by Revolut Ltd. Crypto is held in your Revolut account, not in a wallet you control.

You can switch any existing Revolut card to crypto payments. Revolut charges no exchange fee on these payments, but the exchange rate at the time of payment applies, and each payment counts as a disposal of crypto that may be taxable. The Standard debit card earns 1 RevPoint per €10 spent.

Any Revolut card can be switched to crypto payments: the card then spends a chosen token from the Revolut crypto balance, with no exchange fee from Revolut but at the exchange rate at the point of transaction. Each such payment is a disposal of crypto and may be taxable. Otherwise the card spends fiat balances.source

Is it worth it? Quick math

We can’t do the maths yet: the entry-tier cashback or one of the fees is not verified.

Cashback paid in a volatile token can be worth more or less when you sell it. FX and top-up fees are not included here.
