A prepaid card with five tiers: the free tier pays no cashback, higher tiers pay up to 4.5% in CRO but need a subscription or a large CRO stake.

Verdict

Worth it if you already hold CRO or will pay for a mid-tier subscription and spend enough to beat the fee. On the free tier it pays nothing back, so a no-fee card with base cashback is the better default for most people.

Pros

  • Widest tier range of the cards we track, up to 4.5% back on the top tier
  • Available in the US, UK and EEA under separate fee schedules
  • Works with Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay
  • Free monthly ATM allowance on every tier

Cons

  • No cashback at all on the free tier
  • The top rate needs a €450,000 CRO stake locked for 12 months
  • Cashback is paid in CRO, so its value moves with the token
  • Crypto.com’s own pages disagree on whether the EEA card is Visa or Mastercard

Overview

The card is a prepaid card topped up from your Crypto.com app balance. Crypto is converted to fiat when you top up or pay, and rewards come back in CRO.

Tiers map to Crypto.com’s Level Up plans: the two middle tiers can be unlocked with a monthly subscription or a CRO stake, while the two highest tiers are stake-only.

From 1 October 2026 the EEA fee schedule charges 0.2% FX within the EU and UK and up to 2% outside, depending on tier.

We haven’t run a hands-on test of this card; this review is based on the issuer’s published documents linked on this page.

Is it worth it? Quick math

Entry tier, €1,000 a month of everyday spending in the card’s currency, first year, compared with a plain 2% cash-back card. Only the verified figures above are used.

Cashback earned
€0
Card fees (issuance + 12 × monthly)
−€4.99
Net value, year one
€−4.99
Plain 2% cash-back card
€240

At this spend, a plain 2% cash-back card earns €244.99 more. Higher tiers pay more, but may need staking, a balance or a paid plan — see the tiers above.

Cashback paid in a volatile token can be worth more or less when you sell it. FX and top-up fees are not included here.

Crypto.com Card: common questions

Does the free Crypto.com card pay cashback?

No. The free Midnight Blue tier pays 0% according to Crypto.com’s EEA card page. Cashback starts on the Ruby Steel tier, which needs a subscription or a CRO stake.

Is the Crypto.com card Visa or Mastercard?

Crypto.com’s own EEA pages currently disagree: the FAQ calls it a prepaid Mastercard, while the fee article says Visa. We show the network as not verified until the issuer’s documents agree.
